Once Upon a Book Club 2020 Advent Calendar Day 3

Somewhere by Selisa Loeza

Okay, I’m going to have to knock this story a little bit here. I don’t know what Loeza was thinking, but some of us binge opened all of our gifts on the 27th of December, but her Spotify playlist for this story was already deleted. So uh… thanks for that. Now let me tell some of my deep dark secrets: I once wrote an outline for a book based on songs. I was 14, it was really bad, and the only seen I remember was a “woman in a smoky room”, and I am hoping to the good Lord up above that I deleted that outline and that it isn’t saved somewhere. But growing up surrounded by music, I always love stories that incorporate music with literature. Also, I appreciate when people with different backgrounds get their moment to shine (in this case, the main character is a foster child, and I don’t read enough novels that have a main character like her).

So she reached for the single belonging that truly felt like hers- her grandmother's pillow.

I can’t remember if Day 2’s packaging was similar, but there are a lot of gifts from the 2020 season that came in a cloth bag rather than the plastic wrapping they normal use, which is pretty cool. As for the gift, I love comfort items, so give me pillows and blankets!

If you guys have any thoughts or ideas, feel free to leave a comment, find me on the social medias at @elizabooksblog, or email me at elizabethslick@elizabethsbookstore.blog. And as always, I’ll see you all in the next book!

Owlcrate 2021 Advent Calendar Day 3

Hey everyone and welcome to day 3! Today’s gift is a beautiful headband. I 100% will be wearing this in the future.

Side note: I have been kinda disappointed with the gifts so far. I liked the gloves, but it has felt like the gifts have felt cheap. Looking into it, this box is only $40 for 12 gifts, which is not a bad price at all, but it does mean that the gifts are probably going to be on the cheaper side. That does not mean that the gifts are bad, they just aren’t going to have as much “ooh”s and “ah”s. Keeping all of that in mind, the gifts are worthwhile for the price, but not what I was expecting to get.
