Somewhere by Selisa Loeza
Okay, I’m going to have to knock this story a little bit here. I don’t know what Loeza was thinking, but some of us binge opened all of our gifts on the 27th of December, but her Spotify playlist for this story was already deleted. So uh… thanks for that. Now let me tell some of my deep dark secrets: I once wrote an outline for a book based on songs. I was 14, it was really bad, and the only seen I remember was a “woman in a smoky room”, and I am hoping to the good Lord up above that I deleted that outline and that it isn’t saved somewhere. But growing up surrounded by music, I always love stories that incorporate music with literature. Also, I appreciate when people with different backgrounds get their moment to shine (in this case, the main character is a foster child, and I don’t read enough novels that have a main character like her).
So she reached for the single belonging that truly felt like hers- her grandmother's pillow.
I can’t remember if Day 2’s packaging was similar, but there are a lot of gifts from the 2020 season that came in a cloth bag rather than the plastic wrapping they normal use, which is pretty cool. As for the gift, I love comfort items, so give me pillows and blankets!
