See Me by Nicholas Sparks

How I Read It: Audiobook/Ebook

Dates Read: 6/2/19-6/5/19

Welp, that happened. So to be completely upfront, looking at the title, I could not remember the book. However, as soon as I started reading, I remembered this book right away (which is more than I can say about A Bend in the Road, which I am already struggling to remember). With that being said, I truly love this book not for the romance (which in the scheme of things isn’t awful), but for the thriller.

This book follows Colin, an ameteur MMA fighter with a history of anger problems. He meets Maria, a second-generation-american business lawyer. When Maria’s car gets a flat, Colin comes upon her and helps. And, as they say, the rest is history. But Maria happened to have a past with a former DA case where a young woman was stalked by her ex-boyfriend and eventually killed. When Maria starts being stalked, Colin will go to the ends of the Earth to figure out who is doing this to her. But will he be able to keep his anger in check, even when things are more complicated than they seem?

The first half of this book is the romance, and in my personal opinion, it isn’t the best, but it isn’t the worst. It honestly is just like any other romance that he has written, and I feel like if I read this completely isolated from trying to put out this author series, I wouldn’t be so critical. But here we are.

The second half of this book is the thriller. I thought that he did a really good job of pointing you in multiple directions, and I found myself pointing the finger at multiple people. I also think that the thriller aspect did not take away from the romance and vice versa, which gives an indication that the book was extremely well thought-out, and was edited well.
